Expect lots of plot twists, double entendres, and laughs. Davidson Community Players will be performing the show through Aug. 3.

Ben & Jerry’s free summer movie series continues with “Shrek the Third” Friday at 7 p.m. in the scoop shop parking lot. The evening features Ben & Jerry’s trivia, movie trivia, name-that-tune contests and prizes. Festivities begin at 7, movie starts at dusk. The new Davidson Farmers Market will continue Saturday, 8 a.m. – noon, offering shoppers fresh local produce and meats, baked items, flowers and more. This weekend will feature the Lake Norman Jam, which is open to all interested musicians. The market is held near Town Hall.
Ben & Jerry’s will host a Pet Party, to raise money and awareness for the Adkins Pet Center in Lincolnton Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Ben & Jerry’s will donated 20 percent of sales during the event to support the center’s pet rescue efforts. Dogs and puppies from the center will be on hand, and information will be available about adoption. Co-sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s and Davidson Pet Sitters.
Summit Coffee will be saying goodbye to friend, barrista and musician Kate Minogue, who is about to move to Boston. As the Summit website says of Ms. Minogue: “Over the past several years, she has emerged as a wonderful songwriter and performer and an integral part of the local music culture.” Ms. Minogue will perform one final concert on the Summit stage, 8-11 p.m. Saturday. She will be joined by fellow musician friends Kelley Gardner, Billy Jones, June Benfield and Tim Helfrich.
