Katherine R. Morrow, 100, a longtime Mooresville resident and school teacher, died at The Pines at Davidson on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
Mrs. Morrow born July 26, 1907 in Cornelius, and was the daughter of the late John M. and Julia White Robbins. She attended school in Cornelius and later graduated from Asheville Normal where she received a teaching degree in June 1929.
She was an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Mooresville. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gramma Society and the U.D.C. She taught school for 42 years until her retirement in 1970. Mrs. Morrow had a great love and concern for children and their education.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett A. Morrow; sister, Jettie; brothers, Johnny, Clyde and Austin.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Robbins of Lowell; nieces, Frances Sherrill of Davidson, Rebecca Moss of Rocky Mount, Nancy Carrouth of Chester, VA, Ann Jones Wayneick of Manteo, Opal Mills of Matthews; nephews, Paul Morrow of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Donald Morrow of Raleigh, Lewis Stewart of Mt. Ulla, Bennett Stewart of Matthews, Harold Stewart of Charlotte; cousins, Buddy and Merle Robbins of Cornelius, Margie Lowrance of Matthews and Perry White of Sanford.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville, and a memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Mike McDonald officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
