(From a press release)
The mayors of Cornelius, Davidson and Huntersville on Tuesday announced plans for the Resources for Residents Community Education Series. These monthly information sessions will be held in each of the three North Mecklenburg towns to provide residents with education and information about various issues affecting residents’ lives.
The series kicks off in April and the first topic focuses on financial issues arising during these uncertain times in the economy.
“These sessions are relevant to anyone who is worried about the looming recession, anyone struggling to cope with the rising cost of gas, groceries or health care, and anyone worried about the upheaval in the housing market,” said Bruce Hamlett, Director of Economic Independence for United Family Services.“ In short, the sessions are for everyone.”
The first three topics include, “Avoiding Financial Predators,” “Retaining the American Dream: Holding on to Your Home in Uncertain Times,” and “Keeping Your Home Safe When You are Away.” Future sessions may deal with healthcare and personal safety.
“We have tremendous resources in our community that can be of assistance to our residents in a myriad of ways,” said Huntersville Mayor Jill Swain. “It’s a small effort to bring together these resources, but the results for one individual can be very large.”
