Buy used clothing, save energy

(Davidson Eco House press release)
Did you know that purchasing an item of clothing second-hand instead of brand new can save the energy equivalent of half a gallon of gas? (That’s from page 73 of “The Green Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time.”) Davidson College Ecological Cooperative House is sponsoring a second-hand clothing “swap” on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Davidson College Alvarez Union.
For a $5 donation, you are invited to select some great new-to-you clothing. All proceeds and extra clothes will be donated to Lydia’s Loft, a clothing closet in Huntersville which provides free clothing to needy residents in the Lake Norman area.
If you have gently-worn or new clothes to donate to this effort, bring them before Feb. 23 to the drop-off boxes located around Davidson at: Summit Coffee, the Union Atrium, the Eco-House (439 N. Main St.), and Woodlawn School. (Woodlawn high school student Sophia Spach is assisting the Eco-House with this project as part of her service-learning.)
