Five Davidson College professors – all Davidson residents – learned this week that they’ve been promoted to full professor. Appointed at the college Board of Trustees February meeting were: Shireen Campbell (English), Annie Ingram (English), Randy Ingram (English), Donna Molinek (mathematics) and Jeanne Neumann (classics).

The college typically promotes faculty members to full professor based on their achievements in teaching, professional activity, and college or community service.

Newly hired tenure-track professors usually begin at the rank of assistant, then are granted tenure and promotion to associate professor after six years, based on a rigorous review of their teaching and accomplishments, including publications and research. Faculty are reviewed for full professorship after a minimum of seven additional years’ service.

Shireen Campbell has a bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and a PhD from Tulane University. She teaches writing and directs the college’s writing center.

Annie Ingram has a B.A. from Stanford and PhD from Emory University. She specializes in 19th-century American literature, with an emphasis on women writers. She also has been involved in promoting and advancing the college’s service learning activities.

Randy Ingram is a Davidson graduate with a PhD from Emory. His specialty is 17th century English literature. He is married to Annie Ingram.

Donna Molinek has a bachelor of science from the University of Alaska at Anchorage and a PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her expertise includes differential equations, dynamical systems, mathematical modeling, and topology.

Jeanne Neumann earned her bachelor’s degree at Union College, a master’s at Indiana University and an M.A. and PhD at Harvard. She has taught Latin and Greek language and literature at Davidson since 1994. In 2005, she won the college’s Hunter-Hamilton Teaching Award.
