Downtown Davidson Inc. is accepting applications through Feb. 2 from artists interested in selling their work at the 2008 Art on the Green festival, April 19-20 on the Village Green. The organization also is inviting entries for its 2008 Art on the Green poster. Applications may be downloaded from the Downtown Davidson website, www.downtowndavidson.org.

Ce Scott, director of residencies and exhibitions for the McColl Center in Charlotte, will be this year’s juror.

Artists must submit digital images of their work, along with the application and specify the medium they use. The exhibit must be original work attributed solely to the demonstrating artist. The cost for an exhibit space is $50 and artists must provide their own tent or rent one through Downtown Davidson Inc.

POSTER ART WANTED

Also included in the application is a separate call for art for the 2008 Art on the Green poster artwork competition. A workshop to assist artists in the application process will be held on Jan. 19, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Creative Art Exchange in the Oak Street Mill, Cornelius. Judy Clifford of the Arts and Science Council will lead the workshop and plans to cover topics such as writing an artist’s statement and bio and also digital imagery for juried shows.
