With 2007 on its way out, we offer a look at the year in pictures. What were the top stories? The November election stands out, as does the town’s purchase of the local cable TV system. Davidson College chose a new president, and hosted the Royal Shakespeare Co. Monthly Walking Wednesdays began at the elementary school. Police responded to incidents in several neighborhoods by holding community meetings. Wayne Stowe sold his Exxon station on South Main Street. And we also lost some good friends this year. Meanwhile, the roundabouts opened at Exit 30 as the year started (above) and at year’s end, some developments there neared completion. Reader Lynn Burris points out that Davidson also lost another neighbor this year – Bill Ward – who died in October. “He served the town in many ways and served on the Town Board,” Mr. Burris notes. Thanks for the addition …
Mr. Ward’s obituary can be read on The Charlotte Observer’s death notices website.
