Charlotte Mecklenburg Utilities workers “ran into complications” with a planned water shutoff in the area west of I-77 Exit 30 last night, town officials said this afternoon. Plans now call for interrupting service beginning at midnight tonight.
The work is necessary so the utility can relocate an old water line in preparation for construction of a new Northeast Pump Station.
Water now is scheduled to be shut off at 12 a.m. Thursday and restored by 5 a.m.

A town spokeswoman said residents could experience discolored water or air in their water lines. The best way to remove this is to turn on the faucets in the bathtubs/showers and let them run until all of the air is removed, she said.
