Public works director to retire

The town is seeking a new Project and Public Works Manager, to replace Tommy Treadaway, who will retire at year’s end. The job description calls for someone with five years’ related experience, including personnel and financial management, and pays $47,000 to $73,000 a year. Application deadline is Nov. 21. Meanwhile, Mr. Treadaway is recovering from a recent stroke and has been talking to the town about returning in a part-time role, Town Manager Leamon Brice said last week.

PROJECT and PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
Town Of Davidson, North Carolina

The Town of Davidson, North Carolina, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project and Public Works Manager. Davidson is a vibrant, progressive, livable and cohesive community with a population of 9,100. The Project and Public Works Manager reports to the Town Manager, is a member of the management team, and supervises the public works employees.

This position will be responsible for managing town construction projects as well as maintaining all parks, streets and greenways.

Successful candidates for the position must have at least five years of strong technical and leadership experience in public works, parks maintenance, project management, or construction management. Candidates must have a thorough understanding and experience in financial and human resources management, budget preparation, and fiscal control. Good communication skills are required and experience in local government is preferred.

Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Pay range 47k – 73k. Starting salary dependent on qualifications.

Tommy Treadaway, what a difficult act to follow; he is quiet, gentle, a bridge builder, funny and kind. Tommy has been one of Davidson’s strengths and I feel privileged to know him and wish him the very best in retirement. Finding his replacement will be a challenging task.
