An inventory of trees along Davidson’s public streets is planned during October. On Monday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., the town will hold an information session at Town Hall where residents can ask questions and comment about the work.
The tree inventory is part of a broader effort that town staff are calling “Natural Assets: A Greenprint for Davidson, which began this summer. The effort is guided in part by the town’s Natural Assets Stakeholders Committee, which has been meeting since the end of July.
Town planner Lauren Blackburn says the greenprint project is designed to give the town a base of information about the local landscape to inform future planning decisions and policies.
BARTLETT HIRED
For the tree inventory, the town has hired Bartlett Tree Experts. Bartlett will catalog trees along public streets during October, to give the town information about health and safety risks of trees along public streets and to help set goals for replanting in the older parts of Davidson.
Residents will see Bartlett’s arborists gathering information about trees within 20 feet of the outside edge of streets or sidewalks in the downtown and Village Infill areas.
