Town of Davidson announcement, Sept. 13, 2007

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities is installing a new wastewater pipe under Griffith Street. Part of the project requires that the pond in Roosevelt Wilson Park be drained from September 13 through October 1. Crews will install the pipe, test it, and then restore the pond to previous conditions.

During this time the fish currently living in the pond will be moved to Lake Davidson. The pond will be restocked with fish after the project is complete.

Crews originally tried to install the pipe without draining the pipe but water continued to flow into the trench. The alternative to draining the pipe would be to close Griffith Street for at least two weeks.
