Rain is in the forecast, people, and that could mean a “cooling off” —
into the low 90s. If you’re brave enough to venture out onto the sizzling sidewalks, then keep in mind there should be cool tunes at Summit Coffee evenings this weekend. Also, remember that the Ada Jenkins Center offers free fans to senior citizens and the public library is cool and quiet and open every day but Sunday. Looking ahead, there will be important government meetings early in the week, plus a special youth program to prep kids for social skills at school, and an art festival in Mooresville that will feature Davidson artists.
Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St., will host a Jerry Garcia tribute tonight (Thursday), featuring Billy Jones, Joshua Panda, Joe Diaco, Mason Bissett and Todd Farmer. Friday, acoustic guitarist-singer-songwriter Willie Breeding takes over the microphone. He’s a Kentucky native now living in Brooklyn, N.Y. Saturday will bring live music courtesy of the Unsung Songwriters, a collective of musicians from NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International). All performances are 8-11 p.m.
