The school year is winding down toward a Friday finish for students in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. Expect to see plenty of classes on foot along Main Street this week, visiting the library or stopping for an ice cream cone. Meanwhile, Concerts on the Green plans a Jazz and Blues Weekend on the Village Green, with concerts Saturday at 3 and Sunday at 6.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8 – Last day of school for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Bluegrass and barbecue festival at The Bradford Store, 15915 Davidson-Concord Road (Highway 73), east of Davidson. Featuring local bluegrass band Davidson Express. The Bradford Store also has a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, cheeses, gourmet cookies, crafts and other items. Open 9-4. SATURDAY, JUNE 9, 3-5 p.m. – Concert on the Green with Gator Gumbo. Followed at 5 p.m. by rescheduled performance of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” with members of the Charlotte Symphony. Also, community art fair on the Green, 2-6 p.m.
SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 6-8 p.m. – Concerts on the Green Blues/Jazz weekend continues with the Huntersville Brass.
