It’s graduation time at Davidson College, where seniors are scrambling to finish up exams before next weekend’s commencement. SUNDAY, MAY 13, 6-8 p.m. – Concert on the Green, featuring The Near Misses. More about concerts on the Green in our May 4 season preview, “Green concerts become theme weekends.”
MONDAY, May 14, 6 p.m. – Public officials from area towns will meet ot discuss the proposed purchase of the former Adelphia cable TV system. Open to the public, Charles Mack Citizens Center, 215 N. Main St., downtown Mooresville. See related story, “Meetings schedule on cable TV purchase.”
MONDAY, May 14, 8-11 p.m. - Open Irish music session, Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St.. Come enjoy songs, jigs, reels, mazurkas, marches, and more. Musicians welcome to join in.
TUESDAY, May 15 -Local restaurants host “Lake Norman Eats Out,” a fund-raiser for Our Towns Habitat’s “Business Build,” which helps fight substandard housing.
Participants include Kudzu on the Green and The Soda Shop in Davidson; Dresslers Restaurant, Fusion Sushi, Galway Hooker Irish Pub, and Quizno’s at Rosedale Shopping Center in Huntersville; Brooklyn South, Jersey Mikes, and Solace in Cornelius; and Quizno’s at Mt. Mourne Springs, and Showmars in Mooresville.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16, 8-11 p.m. – Open mic night with Kate Minogue, Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St.
FRIDAY, MAY 18, 8-11 p.m. – Adam Whiting CD Release Party, Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. Jennifer Foster of WDAV 89.9 FM describes Adam’s music as “A seductive blend between raw and defined.” His first CD was praised by the Charlotte Observer. We’re excited to host the release of his new disc, Civilian. Come and get a copy to enjoy!
SATURDAY, May, 19 – Davidson College graduation weekend events, including a Baccalaureate Service at 4:45 p.m., Davidson College Presbyterian Church, and concert by the Davidson College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, also at the church, 7 p.m.
SATURDAY, MAY 19, 8-11 p.m. – Guitarist/singer Heidi Sidelinker Farewell Concert, Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. Heidi Sidelinker has become one of Charlotte’s most beloved songwriters. Her fast-blooming career is calling her to New York City, where she’s been touring. Heidi’s voice, captivating lyrics, and kind presence will be greatly missed in Davidson. Come help us send her off in style!
