Summit live, folk at St. Alban’s, Town Day

O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) play at Davidson College spring concert Friday.
Summit Coffee on Main Street has a
full lineup of music this weekend, beginning tonight (Thursday) with the Jeff Hartman Trio and continuing Friday with Kate Minogue, Kelley Gardner and special guests Pete & J. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for live music this week.
On Friday, Davidson College’s annual spring concert brings O.A.R. and The Roots to Belk Arena. Local bluegrass group Davidson Express plays Town Day Saturday along with other acts. Meanwhile, a family concert of Appalachian and Irish music and a chamber concert of music from Bach and his time are scheduled this month at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church.

THURSDAY, MAY 3, 8-11 p.m., Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main St. — Jeff Hartman Trio plays a “unique brand of folk and funk.” Info: www.summitcoffee.com or 704-895-9090.
FRIDAY, MAY 4, 8-11 p.m., Summit Coffee — Kate Minogue and Kelley Gardner, with special guests Pete & J., a New York City duo whose music has been described as “heartfelt and moving” by the Boston Globe. The duo was recently featured on NBC. Info: www.summitcoffee.com or 704-895-9090.
FRIDAY, MAY 4, 7:30 p.m., Belk Arena, Davidson College – Annual spring concert featuring O.A.R. and The Roots. Also, opening act will be Ludo. Tickets $35 general public, $25 students, faculty and staff.
SATURDAY, MAY 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Village Green – Davidson Town Day, with with food and entertainment, a kiddie train for preschoolers, a kids’ bicycle rodeo a “bungee run” for adults. SATURDAY, MAY 5, 5 p.m. to dark, Beaver Dam, Davidson Concord Road – Barbecue and bluegrass fund-raiser for the Free Clinic of Our Towns, which operates at the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. Food provided by McIntosh Law Firm. Cash bar, silent auction for gift certificates to local restaurants, spas, etc. Tickets $20 for the general public, $10 for students and seniors. SUNDAY, MAY 6, 3 p.m., Davidson College Tyler-Tallman Hall – Classical Indian music concert with the violin duo Ganesh-Kumaresh. Tickets $15 general public, $12 seniors, free for students under 21.
SUNDAY, MAY 6, 3 p.m, St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane — Little Windows, Mark Weems and Julee Glaub playing a family concert of Appalachian and Irish music. Admission: $10 adults, children 10 and under free. Information: 704-941-0650
WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 8-11 p.m., Summit Coffee: Open Mic Night with Chas Willoman. Come grab one of the 10-minute slots in front of the mic. No experience necessary.
SUNDAY, MAY 20, 7:30 p.m., St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane — “Music of Bach and His Time,” with baroque violinist David Wilson, harpsichordist Henry Lebedinsky and baroque cello Barbara Krumdieck.
