Davidson College’s men’s basketball team held off a tougher-than-expected College of Charleston Saturday night to win the Southern Conference championship for the second straight year.
The Wildcats defeated Charleston in Charleston, 72-65, in game broadcast on ESPN2. The win gave Davidson an automatic bid to the NCAA championsip tournament.
Davidson freshman Stephen Curry, named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, scored 29 points in the victory.
Seedings for the NCAA tourney will be announced March 11.
