A public planning workshop is scheduled Thursday, March 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall on a developer’s plans to redevelop the Exxon station at 215 S. Main St. downtown.
As we reported Feb. 6, station owner Wayne Stowe has decided to retire and shut down the filling station and auto repair business he has owned since 1970. Developer David Stewart and his firm, Harris Associates, want to put a multi-story mixed-use building on the site, including ground-floor retail space, and possibly offices and residential condominiums above.
Mr. Stewart expects to complete the purchase of the site in August.
The March 8 meeting will include an overview of the site and a workshop, where residents will be able to offer their views on the site plan. For details, contact town planner Lauren Blackburn at 704-892-7591 or Mr. Stewart at 704-892-8200, ext. 2.
