Davidson Elementary School is seeking to add more “learning cottages” or mobile trailers to its campus. The school currently has 11 trailers, which house the entire second grade and include bathrooms and landscaping. It appears, though, that 11 is not enough.
At a meeting on development in Davidson Thursday evening, Town Planning Director Kris Krider told the audience that the school this week requested four more mobile units. That would bring the total to 15.
Krider cited the request as an example of the need to add a second public elementary school to Davidson. He said town plans identify land near East Rocky River Road as a possible site for a second elementary school.
The Charlotte-Mecklenberg school district lists a $16.5 million new elementary school in the southeast quadrant of Davidson as 30th among its “top 40″priorities. For more on that list, which ranks upgrades to the Davidson IB Middle School at 11th, click here.
