Davidson firefighters responded to a variety of false alarms over the past week, as well as that incident Thursday in which a deer ran into a car on Concord Road. Those and other fire and emergency calls below.
FIRE CALLS
TUESDAY, NOV. 24, 10:28 p.m., mile marker 28, I-77 Northbound – dispatched for vehicle accident, canceled en route. Turned out to be a disabled car.
THURSDAY, NOV. 26, mile marker 29, I-77 southbound – dispatched to possible vehicle fire. Found overheated car. Highway patrol took the driver to the Cashion’s Quick Stop for antifreeze.
SATURDAY, NOV. 28, 11:35 a.m., 15101 June Washam Road, Cornelius – responded to a report of a child locked in a car. Firefighters unlocked a Ford SUV and removed the child.
SATURDAY, NOV. 28, 5:21 p.m., 409 Ridge Road, Davidson College student housing – dispatched for reported elevator entrapment. Canceled en route.
SUNDAY, NOV. 29, 10:51 p.m., 405 Park Ave. – Firefighters were dispatched to chekc on a citizen’s report of a flashing light fixture across the street. They found a burned out bulb in an exterior light fixture.
MONDAY, NOV. 30, 5:35 p.m., 514 Midway Lake Road, Mount Mourne – Dispatched to assist Mount Mourne volunteers at a possible residential chimney fire. Staged on a side street. No additional help required.
TUESDAY, DEC. 1, 11:18 a.m., 19633 Denae Lynn Drive, Cornelius – responded to a fire alarm. Canceled en route.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 2, 2:05 p.m., 153 Meadowbrook Lane – Davidson firefighters responded to a report of an electrical problem. They found a tractor-trailer had pulled down overhead utility cables. No fire hazard noted. Cable, electricity and phone companies were called.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 2, 3:24 p.m., 106 Nelson Lane, Davidson College – smoke detector activated, no fire. System was set off by smoke from a stove, where a hood vent was not working.
THURSDAY, DEC. 3, 8:44 p.m., 1000 block of Concord Road – Firefighters responded to the scene of an accident involving a deer and a car. The deer hit the side of a car, injuring a two-year-old. Detgails in our Dec. 3 news item, CLICK HERE>
