Police and firefighters have 2 locations this year
Davidson police and fire departments are soliciting donations for their annual holiday Angel Tree, which this year is expanding to two locations to respond to an expanding need. The Angel Tree provides needed clothing and wished-for toys to local families during the holiday season.
Trees and collection centers for gifts and donations this year include Davidson Town Hall Rotunda, 216 S. Main St., and St. Albans Episcopal Church, 301 Caldwell Lane. The Ada Jenkins Center identify and assist families in need.
The trees are unveiled this week, bearing “ornaments” containing gift requests for children and families. To help, simply sign out one or more ornaments and make your purchases. All ornaments should be picked up by Dec. 1, and wrapped gifts should be returned by Dec. 10.
Civic and social organizations, boy scouts, girl guides, HOAs, community groups, schools and other groups are encouraged to participate by taking a block of tags, or electing to sponsor an entire family. Sign out cards and instructions are located on the clipboard next to each tree.
Wrapped gifts may be delivered during church services, town special events and Town Hall business hours,
All gifts will be collected, organized and delivered by the Davidson Police & Fire Department “elves.” Donations for wrapping paper and refreshments for our helpers are gladly accepted. Children (age 13 or older) needing community service hours are also welcome to come assist during specific scheduled times.
Have questions? Stop by Town Hall or St. Alban’s Church, or contact Sgt. Scott Misenheimer at 704-892-5131, or Kathleen Rose, at 704-896-0094
