Engineers from the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s two area districts will be at the monthly meeting of the Lake Norman Transportation Commission tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 11), at 6:30 p.m. at Huntersville Town Hall.
Mike Holder, NC DOT Engineer for District 12, which includes Iredell County, and Barry Moose, NC DOT Engineer for District 10, which includes Mecklenburg, will discuss the state’s plans for their districts over the next five years.
The group, with representatives from Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville, also will get an update on the construction status for N.C. 73 in Huntersville. And members will discuss fund-raising for and the scope of a planned three-day workshop in January with experts from the Urban Land Institute. That workshop is scheduled Jan. 25-28.
All four towns on the commission have voted to contribute $10,000 toward the January workshop. The ULI workshop will bring together experts on land use, transportation and other infrastructure, and help the towns develop strategies for future planning.
