Hoop tourney, Town Hall events, and Bach ‘Magnificat’
Davidson College’s men’s basketball team hosts a pair of NIT Season Tip-Off basketball games Monday and Tuesday as
our community calendar slows down this week for the Thanksgiving holiday. Tonight, Davidson College musicians perform Bach’s “Magnificat” and Poulenc’s “Gloria.” Also tonight, the Planning Board holds its monthly meeting, while the Town Board’s monthly work session is Tuesday. And don’t forget Wednesday morning’s Town Hall ceremony honoring John and Paul Kelton with this year’s Jack Burney Community Service Award.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 26, 9 a.m., Town Hall, 216 S. Main St. - 2008 Jack Burney Community Service Award ceremony. This year’s award will be given to John and Paula Kelton. Free and open to the public. THURSDAY, NOV. 27 - Thanksgiving Day. Public offices, banks and schools closed. Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) buses operate on a Sunday schedule, with no express buses.
FRIDAY, NOV. 28 - Schools closed for Thanksgiving break. Many public offices, including Town Hall closed. Many businesses and shops are open. CATS buses run on a Saturday schedule. No express service, except for 77X North Meck Express, which will operate according to its Saturday schedule.
FRIDAY, NOV. 28, and SATURDAY, NOV. 29, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Historic Latta Plantation, Sample Road, Huntersville - Annual “Plantation Christmas” celebration. Experience Christmas in the 1800s as you tour the plantation house, kitchen, and slave cabin. See house and grounds decorated for the holidays and visit the kitchen while it’s warm with the scents of the season.
