WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 1-3 p.m., Brooklyn South Pizzeria, Cornelius - Caring Hearts Foundation, a non-profit organization of women of faith, kicks off its 3rd annual Backpack Project, which will provide back-to-school clothing and supplies for Ada Jenkins Center After School Program in Davidson. Come to the kickoff to be matched with a student and get a supply list.

JULY 18-20 - Davidson Community Players and the Connie Company present “The Connie Company Goes Global,” a performance of multicultural stories, poems and songs for children 3 and up. The production was created by actors ages 10-16 as part of the Rupert T. Barber Summer Workshop. Performances are Friday, July 18, 7 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall; Saturday, July 19, 11 a.m. at Sherrills Ford Library, 8456 Sherrills Ford Road; and Sunday, July 20, 7 p.m., Davidson Town Hall. Friday and Saturday performances are free, though donations will be accepted for the benefit of La Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta, in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.
