A chance to help fight leukemia/lymphoma
A dessert reception is planned Thursday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m. to help raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Guests will welcome back Jodi Helmer, who recently hiked the Grand Canyon as a fund-raiser for the society.
Ann Pegelow Kaplan and Thomas Kaplan are hosting the fund-raiser at their home in downtown Davidson. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society supports blood cancer research, education, and patient services.
Ms. Kaplan said Thursday that Ms. Helmer trained for her Grand Canyon trek by hiking every Saturday for four months. Her goal is to raise $4,000 through the society’s Hike for Discovery Program.
“Please join us for a decadent dessert reception to welcome Jodi back from the Grand Canyon and to help her reach her goal for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You’re invited to indulge in a rich assortment of homemade goodies while seeing the sights of the Grand Canyon as Jodi presents a slideshow and stories of her journey,” Ms. Kaplan said in an invitation email.
