Signs of change on Main Street

Workers remove the sign and prepare to paint at the First Charter branch on Main Street in downtown Davidson Thursday. In early June, a new sign will go up as the office becomes a branch of Fifth Third Bancorp, of Cincinnati. Fifth Third said April 15 it has received all necessary regulatory approvals to buy Charlotte-based First Charter for $1.09 billion. The deal is supposed to close this quarter.
