Tornado warning; schools use safety plans

Mecklenburg County was under a tornado warning by the National Weather Service until 12:30 p.m. today. There was no immediate danger, but the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools activated safety plans, which included moving students out of mobile classrooms. At 1 p.m., the system said the alert had been lifted and said students would be dismissed according to normal times and procedures.
