Towns to show draft of N.C. 73 plan
Officials from Davidson, Huntersville and Cornelius will hold another follow-up workshop Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. at Huntersville Town Hall on their proposed N.C. 73/ Davidson-Concord Road Area Plan. A draft of the plan will be presented. The plan can be downloaded from the town Website in advance of the meeting.
At this meeting, which is open to the public, consultants and town staff members will present ideas for land-use and road development in the area and solicit feedback from residents.
Davidson is in the midst of a 1-year moratorium on new development in the N.C. 73/Davidson-Concord Road area, which ends this summer. The planning includes a variety of local properties along the corridor deemed “susceptible to change,” include the Barger and Westmoreland farms, Hopewell Baptist Church, the Mayes family property, the Bailey Road extension, and the Prosperity Church Road area.
“Development is coming,” says one of the slides to be presented Thursday. “How do we approach it?”
The draft plan calls for clustered developments, preservation of land around developments, and street connections designed to minimize traffic along major roads.
