DEATHS: Sarah Jetton, 93

Longtime Davidson resident Sarah Elizabeth Jetton died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at age 93. She lived Sarah Jettonat the Pines at Davidson.

Her funeral will be Friday, June 1, at 2 p.m., in Lingle Chapel of Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pines before the service, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Born July 16, 1913 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late William Alexander Jetton and Sarah Howard Jetton.

Miss Jetton was educated at Salem and Davidson Colleges. She retired from her business career in 1978 where she was employed by predecessor companies of Barclays/American Corporation as executive secretary to Edwin P. Latimer and Herman A. Moore for more than 30 years.

Since her retirement, she has been active in community affairs, especially, the Davidson Senior Services and the Davidson Retirement Community. She served as a board member of each of these organizations. She was a life-long member of Davidson College Presbyterian Church.

Miss Jetton is survived by her Cousins, Betty J. Liffrig and Hugh Jetton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Howard Jetton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Resident Support Fund, The Pines, 400 Avinger Lane Davidson, N.C. 28036

Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville is in charge of funeral arrangements.

  1. Dear Family of Sarah Howard Jetton: I am Sarah’s first cousin and live in Pensacola Florida. I visited Sarah last August and had planned another visit this August.
