WIMPS march for peace

peace-rally.JPG

It was a small group of citizens that marched down Main Street Sunday afternoon, so small that a police officer was hardly needed to help everyone cross the street at the stoplight by CVS. The antiwar march was led by South Street resident Hugh Casey and other members of WIMPS, which stands for We’re Intent on Making Progress Slowly. Several wore T-shirts with peace slogans, as the march was timed to mark the fourth anniversary of the start  of the Iraq war.  The roughly two-dozen participants concluded the march at Town Hall, where Casey (pictured above) and others, including Mayor Randy Kincaid, spoke briefly of the need for peace and justice in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
